Quandela is a European start up that provides photonic quantum computers that are modular, scalable, energy-efficient and accessible both on the cloud and on premise. Our team specialises in the development of both software and hardware solutions for a variety of quantum applications. We offer a wide range of services, from developing the most efficient and brightest single photons sources, to creating algorithms for quantum computers and providing cloud quantum computing solutions.
Join our cutting-edge research team focused on advancing the field of optimal control in photonic quantum computing.
You will work closely with our lead researcher to enhance the efficiency and precision of machine learning techniques applied to characterize and control photonic integrated circuits.
Our current methods have set a new benchmark in optimal control (see here), achieving unprecedented fidelity values. With the new generation of devices coming this year, consisting of 400 controllable components, we are facing exciting new challenges in our quest for ultimate precision.

What are your responsibilities ?
· Collaborate with the research team to understand and analyze existing machine learning models used for characterizing photonic chips.
· Develop and implement novel techniques to significantly reduce the number of required data samples, making the machine learning process more efficient.
· Optimize the computational aspects of machine learning training to accelerate the learning of the behavior of photonic devices.
· Design and develop strategies to mitigate imperfections learned by machine learning models, aiming for more precise photonic quantum computers.
· Collaborate on potential experimental work related to the research, depending on the intern’s interests and skill set.
· Regularly communicate progress and findings, and participate in team discussions.
Requirements
· Proficient in Python programming.
· Demonstrated interest in machine learning and the willingness to explore new techniques.
· Ability to propose creative solutions to complex problems.
· Not required, but a plus: Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics
· Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
· Strong communication skills (french and english)
