Fiber Pigtailing Engineer – Single Photon Source

Engineering

Description

Quandela is a leading company in the development and commercialization of quantum computing solutions based on the manipulation of single photons. We are seeking a full-time (permanent contract – CDI) Single Photon Source Fiber Pigtailing Engineer to participate in the development of Quandela’s quantum light emitter devices together with the large semiconductor team at Quandela. With respect to the development of semiconductor quantum dots in micro-pillar cavities for quantum light generation, you will be responsible for the fiber pigtailing process: ensure for stable and efficient coupling of the emitted single photons into monomode fiber, characterizing performance and improving the process for devices operation at cryogenic temperature. You will also participate in the research work for next-generation devices. The candidate must be highly skilled in experimental fiber optics, and have an interest in the field of quantum emitters. Short term within 1-2 years responsibilities
  • Fast learning the current technologies of pigtailing process
  • Developing and optimizing the high-precision optical tools required.
  • Documenting the results of processing and your findings.
  • Assisting the characterization engineers with the optical characterization of the devices
  • Assisting and operating cryogenic integration
Long term within 2-5 years responsibilities
  • Analyzing the role of pigtailing processes and parameters on device performance with coupling efficiency and stability.
  • Developing the product packaging for better performance and commercialization
  • Mastering the cryogenic instruments and maintaining long-term operation
  • Technical consultation to clients with delivered pigtailed sources

  • Strong fundamentals in optics, high-precision tools and fiber coupling techniques.
  • Numerical calculation of optical properties of devices by Lumerical, Comsol or common software
  • Instrument communication by Python or other common language
  • Laboratory experience with solid-state quantum emitters and high-precision optics.
  • Laboratory expertise with cryogenic systems is highly appreciated
  • Proven ability to build and run complex optical experiments from the ground up.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively across multiple projects and departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain an organised, frequent and clear reporting.
