Efficient Numerical Simulation of Cat Qubits Internship
Alice & Bob are a deep tech company going through an R&D stage to build the first fault-tolerant Quantum Computer. We secured 30 million USD in funding to further develop our unique technology.
We are a young team with some of the brightest scientific minds joining us straight from completing their PhD or university. Of course, we are serious about our mission and participation in the quantum race alongside tech giants like Google and IBM, however we are also keen to create ever-lasting memories. Including lots of celebrations and fun, as we continue to have many successes along the way to our ultimate goal of building the first Universal, fault-tolerant Quantum Computer! Which can have large positive impact for humanity. Do you want to join a team that is trying to change the world?
Project Summary:
As an intern in our Theory team, you will work on the development of efficient numerical simulation techniques for driven-dissipative bosonic systems, specifically focusing on cat qubits. The project aims to address the challenges associated with simulating many coupled cat qubits, where conventional methods struggle. You will leverage variational methods and tailored basis parametrizations to capture the relevant part of the quantum state effectively. This project is a great opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge quantum research at Alice&Bob while gaining hands-on experience in advanced numerical techniques.
n- Familiarize yourself with cat qubits, variational methods, density matrix formalism, and basis parametrizations.
- Develop an efficient variational parametrization to describe cat qubit dynamics.
- Derive equations of motion for the evolution of the variational density matrix.
- Develop Python code to implement the numerical method for efficient simulations.
- Apply the developed methods to study important physical problems involving cat qubits.
- You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree at the Master’s level and are looking for a 4 to 6-month internship.
- You have completed coursework in quantum mechanics and numerical simulations.
- You are curious about variational methods and quantum dynamics (knowledge of density matrix formalism is a plus).
- You are experienced in Python programming and numerical modeling.
- You are a curious, motivated, and proactive individual with a desire to contribute to cutting-edge research in a fast-paced environment.
