About The Role and Team

This Senior Project Manager position is part of the Product and Partnerships team, whose goal is to shape the product strategy in the evolving quantum computing industry. This team also manages various research programs and partnerships.  


In this role, you will oversee the project management of government-funded and internal projects, including external partnerships and regular reporting and deliverables, in particular regular reporting and management of external partnerships. The successful candidate will scope new projects, set and communicate timelines and follow up with the involved teams to reach the set goals on schedule. The role will require close collaboration with the technical teams and a broad understanding of the research and development work. Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive various collaborators to meet project goals are a requirement.

Our team of 60+ is based in Oxford and London, with a centre of mass in our  Islington lab.



Functions of the Role

  • Project management of internal development efforts and external deliverables.                                                                                           
  • Management and reporting of government-funded projects.

  • Definition of project goals and driving of the teams to meet deadlines and objectives  set target dates

  • Preparation of budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with stakeholders. Tracking of costs versus budget, and work closely with our financial/accounting team.

  • Preparation of project reports for management, clients, and/or external reporting.

  • Gathering and review of status reports from project personnel and adjust schedules or plans as required.

  • Identification of risks and challenges to successful timely on-budget project execution, devise and implement risk mitigation strategies.


Experience – Essentials

  • 5 + years project management experience.

  • Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering hardware-intensive R&D projects 

  • Experience with government contract budgeting and cost reporting 

  • Reliable schedule and budget tracking with project management tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong financial awareness

  • Applicants should thrive in a dynamic small business environment

  • BSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field


Experience – Desirable

  • Background in a relevant technical field

  • Knowledge of IC development

  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
