The Project:
As part of our engineering team, you will play a key role in helping to upgrade,
assemble and develop new electrical and electronics systems and provide both lab and field assistance for the world’s first commercial quantum computer. You will be involved with the development and testing of our quantum processor control and readout electronics.
We are looking for a team focused, hard-working ‘chip in where needed’ type of person who enjoys hands-on engineering work. Someone who takes
pride in their initiative and can work closely with Engineering Change Control to push continuous improvement to our systems and processes. Your systems-thinking curiosity ensures continuous learning and an energy to dive into new and exciting multi-discipline areas. This is an amazing opportunity to work on the leading edge of technology, and in an R&D environment developing technology the world has never seen!
n- Propose and help develop changes for electrical and electronics assemblies ranging from programmable power supplies to custom FPGA based high speed electronics.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve system operational issues – Electrical, Software, and Cryogenics.
- Install upgrades on our quantum systems both in our lab and in the field.
- Provide engineering lab support and preventative maintenance for electrical assemblies.
- Install, upgrade, and contribute to the software on our control servers.
- Perform and help refine system tests for both engineering and production
- teams.
- Create technical documentation.
- Electrical Engineering degree or similar. Additional courses in physics,
- cryogenics, and/or thermodynamics are a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience working in an engineering environment.
- Good knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
- Basic understanding of FPGA design and VHDL/Verilog.
- Comprehension of electro-mechanical engineering drawings is important.
- Demonstrated initiative that resulted in improved processes or workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new procedures quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Willingness and interest to perform field work.
- Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.
- Previous experience working in a cryogenic lab is a benefit but not needed.
- Ideally you are the type of person that works on interesting projects in your spare time!
